PTZ or pan/tilt/zoom cameras offer the flexibility of viewing a large area with a single camera. Examples might include a large parking lot where a wide (zoomed out) view could monitor an entire area, and a narrow (zoomed in) view could capture a detailed view of objects in the area.
Fixed lens cameras are less expensive than PTZ cameras and are recommended for businesses and homes where multiple, non-adjacent areas need to be monitored. In most of these situations it is more cost effective to have multiple fixed cameras and a video recorder (NVR or DVR) connected to a video monitor for local viewing. If an internet connection is available, these systems can also be viewed remotely.
Most surveillance cameras and systems include cloud services which enable remote control, live view and playback of both PTZ and fixed camera video. SDH Surveillance can set up and maintain these systems for you.
